Level of Adherence to the Gold Strategy Document for the Management of Patients with Acute Exacerbation of COPD in Sahiwal

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and its exacerbation are a major cause of pulmonology OPD emergency visits in Pakistan. The objective this study was to measure the level adherence GOLD (Global Initiative for Lung Disease) strategy document management patients with acute COPD, Sahiwal Punjab Pakistan.
 Methodology: This retrospective cross-sectional comprised 480 COPD. It conducted Pulmonology Department DHQ Teaching Hospital, Sahiwal. treatment given these compared guidelines mentioned COPD.
 Results: Out total patients, 408 (85%) were males. 312 (65%) belonged age group 50-70 years. 100% Gold standards not followed any patient. Five out ten steps all cases. While remaining five variably.
 Conclusion: Overall AECOPD set by good. Improved physician’s awareness better can improve patient care outcome.
